History of Sailing on the Swan
For over 30 years The Rotary Club of Mount Lawley has carried out a joint project with Camp Quality and Royal Perth Yacht Club to support families with children who have cancer. A family fun day is arranged for all the family and not just the child with cancer.
The project has been financially supported each year with a grant from The Stan Perron Charitable Foundation. This funds a catered lunch, the purchase of gift cards and vouchers for Camp Quality families and provides several other fun activities on the day.
The family members enjoy sailing on yachts and entertainment, including a scavenger hunt, culminating in being given a pouch with gift vouchers suitable for families to enjoy. A catered lunch is provided for everyone.
A photographer takes photos of families enjoying themselves on the yachts and each family receives a laminated certificate and photo as a memento of the day.
The gift vouchers and a pouch are also given to families who register for the event and are unable to attend due to illness of the child, or ongoing cancer treatment.
